May 26th: Recently I downloaded part of the Pink Floyd gig I went to on November 16th 1974 at the Empire Pool two days after my 17th birthday. All of DSOTM (which I think already have) and the encoe Echoes which I have never heard since that day. The gig features in Q magazines top ten Floyd gigs of all time and I was there. First starting with brand new Shine on you crazy diamond, Raving and Drooling ang You gotta be crazy (these last two ended up as Sheep and Dogs on Animals) then onto DSOTM with sax and singers added so it was heard for the first time like the album in quadraphonic sound with a 50ft back projection screen and finally Echoes. Mythical. After the gig I remember buying 3 or 4 vinyl bootlegs off a guy outside. They were selling like hot cakes. Before the gig I bought the programme and a green silk PF scalf. It was the seventies afterall.
I've downloaded other versions of varying quality with the complete concert (Shine on you crazy diamond, You gotta be crazy, Raving and drooling where the new material being aired for the first time) available. I read of lot of conflicting reports on the net about the 4 dates at Wembley in that the Nov 15th gig was the one recorded by the BBC and aired on the 16th. Who knows. I was ther on the 16th and it was great.
